The Georgia monument is in the Stonewall Confederate Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia. It was erected by the State of Georgia in 1894.

 

The main cemetery entrance is from Boscawen Avenue at East Lane. (monument location 39° 10.998′ N, 78° 9.45′ W; see map)

 

From the front of the monument:

By the People of Georgia

To 290 of her sons who

Lie in this cemetery

From the right (south) side:

 

Go, stranger, and tell it
in Georgia, that we died here
in obedience to her law.

1861 - 1865

 

From the rear:

 

When duty called they came

When country called they died

 

From the left side:

 

The brave

die never, being deathless. They

but change their country's arms
